Diseases and Poisons

In Harath a disease works by attacking a statistic, while it is fought by theCon. Each disease is labelled, by the Stat it attacks, its potency, and aweakening factor, i.e. Str-10-2. The stat is the stat that it fights, and thepotency it’s strength. The first week the character gets the disease, they mustmake a Con roll against the Potency of the disease. The difference is thensubtracted (or added to) the Stat (The stat can not go above what the characterstarted with). The next week the character rolls again. If the character’s statreaches 0, then they are dead. If the stat is at full strength, then any extrasuccess the character achieves reduces the potency of the disease by thatamount.

Randi the Magus has a Con of 5 and an Mana of 9. She is attacked by a broocarrying the disease “Mage’s Death” which attacks Mana. The “Mage’s Death” is a defined as Mana-5.

Week Dis. Pot # Succ Mana
1 5 3 9-5+3 = 7
2 5 6 7-5+6 = 8
3 5 3 8-5+3 = 6
4 5 2 7-5+2 = 3
5 5 3 5-5+3 = 1
6 5 3 5-5+3 = -1

Randi dies in the 6th week of the battle.

Poisons

Poisons attack the body directly in order to damage the body or a statistic.Poisons are therefore named by their potency, by what it attacks, and it’s latency. For examples, “Devil’s Grip” is a paralyzing poison that attacks Strafter being in the body for 1 turn; it’s definition is Str-10-20. After thelatency period is over, the poison attacks the Con. The poison attacks with anamount of dice equal to it’s potency. If the poison wins, it temporarily reduces1 point from the statistic (this is temporary, and will not kill the person) orfrom total HP (If this is reduced to 0, it will kill the person). The lowest astatistic can go is 0, after that the amount the potion wins by is irrelevant. Ifthe victim wins, then they reduce the potency of the poison by the amount of extrasuccesses. Each turn after the Latency period, the potency of the poison drops byone, and it’s effects are rerolled.

Poor Randi, after she overcame “Mage’s Death”, an enemy mage spiked her drinkwith “Rat’s Venom” a very deadly poison. “Rat’s Venom” is defined as Mana-5-5.
